Volunteers were busy monitoring the speed of drivers on Marple Road in Charlesworth on Wednesday afternoon (6 April).

The Hadfield Community Speed Watch team were on the A626, where the speed limit is 30 miles per hour, between 2pm and 3pm.

A total of 358 vehicles went by the team in both directions during the hour. Of these, five were recorded driving at a speed in excess of 35 mph.

A Glossop Police Safer Neighbourhood Team spokesperson said: "The owners/registered keepers of those five vehicles will receive letters of advice about their speeding in Charlesworth.

"When driving through our villages in Derbyshire, please respect the speed limits.

"A big thank you once again to the two volunteers who completed the event.

"Speedwatch advisory letters do not exclude the possibility of direct police intervention if the first message is not fully understood."
