Take part in the Big Christmas Sing-a-long

Care homes are being asked to join in a sing-a-long for Christmas this weekend.

Take Part, a performing arts school in Glossop, is inviting local care homes and hospitals to join their ‘Big Christmas Sing-a-long’ on Saturday, December 19.

Using Zoom, the festive event can be broadcast over televisions in communal areas.

Leanne Chance runs Take Part and had the idea for the singalong after facing challenges at the school.

Lockdown led Leanne to cancel spring and summer productions and deliver classes over Zoom for five months.

When restrictions lifted, face-to-face classes resumed, before the second lockdown affected the school.

Leanne said: “During the second lockdown, I didn’t want to have to cancel yet another production, so I came up with the plan of doing our show over Zoom and having the audience be the performer’s family and friends on the big screen like Britain’s Got Talent.

“Christmas is a time for family and Covid-19 has stopped many families from seeing their loved ones in care homes, so we want to spread some Christmas cheer by inviting others to join.”

Three care homes and hospitals are already set to take part, but the performance is open to anybody.

Take Part teaches acting, singing, dancing, music, improvisation, public speaking and much more, giving children as young as four the chance to express themselves creatively.
