Rocking all over Glossop to support Mottram dad's fundraising

The music of former rock stars will be heard in Glossop for one night only for a special cause.

Acts playing Amy Winehouse, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie and Freddie Mercury are joining together for a good cause.

All profits from the ticket sales will go towards lifesaving treatment for local rocker and gig-goer Chris Laycock.

Chris is undergoing treatment for two brain tumours, but the Mottram dad needs to travel to a German clinic specialising in Immune-Oncological Therapy.

Only there does he have a chance to fight the cancer.

After receiving his diagnosis in March 2021, Chris has been undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy at The Christie.

He has made his first trip to the German clinic for treatment, but still needs to raise money for further sessions.

The Dead Rockstars’ Ball has been organised by his friend Thea Hanson Orr.

She is a musician herself and has gathered the UK’s best tribute acts, along with local musicians, to play the gig at the Crystal Ballroom in Glossop on Friday 29 October.

Thea said: “Chris is one of my best friends, so we’ve been fundraising as much as we can to get him the pioneering treatment he needs in Germany.

“He has a lot of musician friends so we thought a dead rock stars’ ball would be a fun way to help him raise the money he needs for treatment at the German clinic.”

There's also a GoFundMe page to support Chris, which you can donate to here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/chris-needs-you-kill-bill
