Residents enjoy first Carmel Community Breakfast of 2022

Residents across Hadfield, Padfield, Tintwistle and Old Glossop were treated to a delicious meal at the first Carmel Community Breakfast of the new year.

The team at Carmel Church on Station Road in Hadfield served 63 hearty breakfasts to folk throughout the local community on Saturday morning (14 January).

On the menu was bacon, fried egg or sausage butties, together with a choice of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or apple and blackcurrant cordial.

Padfield borough councillor and High Peak deputy mayor Ollie Cross said it went 'resoundingly well'.

He said: "We reverted back to a collection only service, but it was still a thoroughly enjoyable morning though.

"A special mention must go to Bernie and Gill for all their hard work. They worked tirelessly in the kitchen to prepare and cook all the breakfasts and both put in a herculean effort.

"My duties were far less onerous in comparison. I was stationed at the front door to meet and greet local residents, and pass folk their takeaway breakfasts. I was also put on refreshment duty too.

"Thanks to everyone who popped down despite the bitterly cold weather. It was utterly fantastic to see you all and we've massively appreciated all the lovely feedback and kind-hearted words so far."

The next Carmel Community Breakfast will take place on Saturday 12 February. The service is free of charge and all are welcome.
