The future of a New Mills care home will be discussed at a forthcoming virtual public meeting.

Derbyshire County Council is holding a consultation to look at the future of accommodation for older people in seven residential care homes, including closing existing facilities and moving residents elsewhere. 

The proposals have prompted strong opposition locally with a campaign launched in an effort to save Goyt Valley House. 

The council has three 'virtual' public meetings planned, with the meeting on Tuesday 25 January at 6.30pm set to focus on Gernon Manor and Goyt Valley House. 

The events are taking place using Microsoft Teams. Anyone who would like to take part can book a slot by emailing telladultcare@derbyshire.gov.uk 

The consultation runs until Monday 4 March, with an online questionnaire available on the county council's website at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/care-home-review
