Popular manager leaves The Bureau for new NHS role

Damien Greenhalgh.

It's the end of an era at The Bureau in Glossop as a popular manager has left after five years.

Damien Greenhalgh worked as Partnerships and Voluntary Development Manager at the Henry Street centre.

The Deputy Leader of High Peak Borough Council is moving on to a new role within the NHS.

Damien is beginning a Project Manager role at NHS England within the national Voluntary Partnerships Team.

He told us: "The Bureau’s a fantastic organisation. It’s practically become part of people’s families. It helps so many people and if it can’t, it finds them the help they need. I have so many happy memories of the staff and the clients but I feel I am at the stage where I need a new challenge.”

Damien's memories at The Bureau in Glossop

Damien added: "The Bureau is basically a one stop in Glossop. I am now working for the NHS in part of a national partnerships scheme. It involves volunteers working alongside NHS staff. It’s mostly a home based role and I’ll be travelling to Leeds at times.

"The team deals with really interesting schemes such as the National Volunteer Responder App which came into service during the Covid lockdown to support the NHS. It involves volunteers delivering prescriptions, taking staff to work if they can’t get in and things like that.”

Damien says he will make sure he finds time for his Council work alongside his new role.
