Controversial proposals for a 77-acre solar farm in the High Peak have been withdrawn.
The initial application to look at screening of the site had led to a campaign group being formed to oppose the plans for a green belt site, just off Dolly Lane near Furness Vale.
This particular development had also prompted opposition from the Peak District National Park Authority and High Peak’s MP Robert Largan.
The MP, who has met with Kronos Solar, welcomed the firm's decision to withdraw its current pre-application. He had also given a speech in Parliament outlining his concerns about the application.
However, the potential development of the first solar farm in the High Peak had prompted a wider debate.
While support for renewable energy is strong, it is clear from comments on social media that people want to ensure that it is located in the right place.
Suggestions put forward include new rules to be brought in to ensure all new homes have solar panels.
