A new Chief Executive Officer has been appointed at the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust, which includes eight schools in the High Peak.

Kevin Gritton, who is currently head teacher at Saint Benedict Catholic Voluntary Academy in Derby, will take over the position from 1 September 2022.

He will replace Sean McClafferty, who has been CEO since the Trust was formed in 2018 and is retiring at the end of August.

The Trust consists of five secondary schools and 20 primary schools across Derbyshire and neighbouring authorities. This includes All Saints, St Margaret’s, St Charles’, St Philip Howard and Saint Marys in Glossopdale, Saint Mary's in New Mills, and St Anne's and St Thomas More in Buxton.

Kevin has been in teaching for over 25 years, most recently at Saint Benedict which is the largest school in the Trust. The school moved from an Ofsted Special Measures rating to Good within 18 months under his leadership.

He is also currently part of the Trust’s School Improvement Team, being a Trust Leader of Excellence, and has supported schools in the Trust as an Executive Headteacher.

Kevin said: “I am excited to be taking up the role of Chief Executive Officer of the St Ralph Sherwin Trust in September and I’m looking forward to working with our dedicated staff for the benefit of the pupils in all of our 25 academies.”

Jacqueline Rodden, Chair of the Trust Board, said: “I am delighted that Kevin will become the next CEO for the Trust and am looking forward to working with him in his new role.”

Peter Giorgio, Director of Education for Nottingham Roman Catholic Diocesan Education Service, commented: “On behalf of Bishop Patrick McKinney and everyone at the Diocese, it gives us great pleasure to welcome Kevin Gritton to his new role.”
