New artist exhibition at Glossop train station

Paintings created by a talented Glossop-based artist have gone on display at the Waiting Room Art Gallery at Glossop train station.

The Friends of Glossop Station are pleased to welcome back artist Ailsa Johnson, who had her first exhibition just over a year ago and she was delighted with the response.

Ailsa has eight new paintings on display inspired by her love of colours, changing lights, textures, poetry, and song lyrics.

Although she enjoyed colouring and drawing as a child and went to Art College Ailsa did not use these skills in her career.

It was not until 2019 when attending an art course at Glossop Library that Ailsa began to paint again.

"My enthusiasm for painting has been rekindled," she commented.

Ailsa's paintings can be viewed every day at the station from early morning to early evening. Her artwork is available to buy by contacting Ailsa at ailsart.com

Any other local artists or photographers wishing to have their work displayed at the station, courtesy of Northern Trains, are invited to get in touch with Friends of Glossop Station.
