Masonic Lodge make donation to Hummingbirds Ukraine Appeal

Glossopdale Masonic Lodge has donated £1,000 to the Hummingbird Hub's Ukraine Appeal.

Hummingbirds, based in Padfield, is run by Jo Gregory.

She began fundraising a few weeks ago to send cash to the war-hit nation.

Jo was hoping to raise about £500, but the total now stands at £8,000.

She told the Chronicle: "We were contacted by Glossopdale Freemasons to tell us they’d held an event and had raised £1,000 for our cause. It’s a phenomenal effort and it will all go to our agencies on the ground to help those most in need.

“It’ll help families who are fleeing the country and will also support evacuating orphans from the area.”

Jo is astonished that local people have donated but she says they never fail to surprise her with their generosity.

She added: “We’d like to thank Glossopdale Lodge for their donation. It really is appreciated. The money will go directly to our verified aid workers and will probably be spent within 24 hours.”
