The body of a man has been found in the Valehouse Reservoir area near Tintwistle.

Glossop Mountain Rescue Team and officers from Derbyshire Constabulary and Greater Manchester Police launched a huge search operation on Wednesday afternoon (8 September) after receiving reports of a missing vulnerable man.

The teams scoured the area around the reservoir for several hours and the body was discovered in the evening.

A Glossop MRT spokesperson said the search was escalated after receiving further information, with neighbouring MRTs from Oldham and Woodhead called in as well as four dogs from the Search and Rescue Dog Association.

Glossop Police Safer Neighbourhood Team added: "All those involved would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends at this sad time.

"Thank you to the teams of volunteers from Glossop, Oldham and Woodhead Mountain Rescue Teams who assisted in this operation."
