Easter fun in Hadfield park

Everyone had a cracking time in Bankswood Park in Hadfield on Saturday (16 April) for an Easter treasure hunt.

Nearly 150 eggs were given out to local children courtesy of the Hadfield and Padfield People’s Entertainment (H.A.P.P.E) group.

Sandy Henderson from organisers H.A.P.P.E said: "We gave children in our community a staggering 147 Easter eggs plus extra treasure treats.

"Thank you to Lulu and Bruno (my offsprings) for volunteering to wear the bunny suits in the heat. You did team H.A.P.P.E proud, the children loved you.

"Thank you to our volunteers Carike Delport and Ollie Cross - we couldn't have done it without you. You did exceptionally well in setting up with us and marshalling.

"Thank you to our Treasurer Jaimie Turner - our responsible Easter egg 'giver outer' and Ruth Holt our Secretary for our singers and director of the route.

"Thank you to Sparkling Venues for donating our Easter Carrot Balloons - the children loved them. We are really thankful for so many well behaved children. Well done to you all."

Padfield borough councillor Ollie Cross also donated £100 from his Councillors Initiative Fund to the event, while other donations came from Action Together, Glossop Commercial and Tesco Community Champion Christine Clarke.

Cllr Cross said: "The Easter Bunnies, Bruno & Lulu, were extremely popular and both put in a phenomenal shift. Every single child got treated to an Easter egg after they had completed the treasure hunt and figured out the magic word.

"It was lovely to bump into lots of familiar faces. It's been deeply encouraging to hear plenty of positive feedback from parents so far and dead pleasing to see everyone thoroughly enjoy themselves. A big shout out to Carike, Jaimie, Lauren, Lewis, Ruth, Sandy and Vicki for all their hard work.

"Also a huge thank you to the H.A.P.P.E Team for taking the time to organise this fun filled community event. Your commitment, hard work and utter selflessness has brought smiles to the faces of so many local children."
