DCC leader up for an award

The leader of Derbyshire County Council has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

Cllr Barry Lewis (pictured) is in the running for the Leader of the Year award at the Local Government Information Unit (LGiU)’s Councillor Achievement Awards 2019.

Now in its 10th year, the annual awards held by LGiU - a local democracy think tank - bring together council leaders, councillors and other senior local government figures for an evening of celebration.

This year's ceremony is on Tuesday, November 5, at the Royal Horseguards Hotel in Westminster.

Cllr Lewis, of the Conservative Party, said he was "honoured and delighted" to be shortlisted, as he bids to become the first person from Derbyshire to be successful in these awards.
