Antenatal Unit team leader humbled and honoured by award

PROUD: Jen Heath with her colleagues.

When Jen Heath learned that she had been nominated for a Who's Your Hero Award by her team, she says she was both humbled and honoured.

Jen, 38, who has been team leader at the Antenatal Unit at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT for the past two years, says she is lucky to have such dedicated and professional colleagues.

“Despite many challenges over recent months as a team we have worked hard to maintain the high standard of care that we pride ourselves on delivering for our mums-to-be,” she said.

“To be nominated by your colleagues is extra special.”

Married to Paul, a heavy goods driver, and with three daughters aged 11, five and three, Jen lives in Glossop and in her spare time enjoys caravanning in Wales and is a keen member of the Gamesley Crown Bowling Club.

Karen James OBE, Trust Chief Executive who presented the award, said Jen and colleagues like her epitomise all that is expected of a great team leader.

“Jen is a highly qualified professional who has held own a number of specialist maternity roles,” said Karen.

“She understands what’s required to motivate and support colleagues and as a result the service provided by our ante-natal team is second to none.”
