Damien Maddison

The artist of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight is Damien Maddison. Born, raised, and still living in Failsworth, Damien first picked up a guitar at 13 years old and quickly taught himself to play.

By the time he was 17 he was already in bands and being booked for paid gigs. His influences from an early age were The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly, Leonard Cohen, Charles Baudelaire, William Blake, Arthur Rimbaud, Percy Bysshe Shelley, TS Eliot and Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

Since then he has gone on to play with, and share stages with the likes of Kenney Jones of The Small Faces/The Faces/The Who, Louise Goffin (daughter of Gerry Goffin and Carole King), The Bluetones, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, John Bramwell (I Am Kloot), The Flying Pickets, Mark Burgess (The Chameleons), Dave Sharp (The Alarm), Martin Stephenson and the Daintees, and Tom Hingley & Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets).

He's completed UK tours with The Stylistics, Ronettes icon Ronnie Spector, Wishbone Ash, Medicine Head's John Fiddler, and two full UK tours with Donavon. For nine months he also held a residency at Liverpool's legendary Cavern Club and has had his music played on many radio stations worldwide.

Damien released his first music in 2003, and twenty years on still continues to write, record, and release new music. He selects his few and far between live dates carefully, so it's always a great occasion to see him perform live. DamienMaddison and his music can be found on all social media and streaming platforms, and his music will be played on every weekday show on Tameside Radio between 6am and 7pm all of next week.

Damien also joined the team on The Dave Sweetmore Show last Monday night, you can listen again via the OnDemand section of the website.
