Smash hit musical, Rock Of Ages, comes to New Mills this April

Stockport based NK Theatre Arts head to New Mills Art Theatre for the very first time with their production of Rock Of Ages.

Filled with classic 80’s rock music, Rock Of Ages tells the tale of a small town girl and a city boy, as they search for fame. Meanwhile the LA sunset strip is at risk when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled strip into just another capitalist mall.

Filled with plenty of sex, drugs and rock and roll, this juke-box musical features classic rock hits from artists such as Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and many more.

Mike Miller, who plays rock wannabe Drew in the smash hit production said “We’re so excited to bring this hilarious, fun and sexy musical to New Mills Art Theatre. The show has some brilliant songs in it, from ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ to ‘We Built This City’ and ‘The Final Countdown’. There’s a real nostalgic factor, and for me, as someone who grew up listening to these songs, it’s an absolute pleasure to get to perform them alongside this talented cast.”

NK Theatre Arts were set to perform Rock Of Ages in March at their home, The Forum Theatre in Romiley, but due to ongoing work to fix concrete issues on the roof of the council-owned building, NK Theatre Arts were forced to halt rehearsals, change the dates and take their show to the 455 seater theatre in the heart of New Mills.

“This show has been a long time coming, and although not our original venue, we are ecstatic to be performing at the beautiful New Mills Theatre” says director and performer Paul Wilson. “We’re bringing the Sunset Strip to New Mills. We’ve got some immersive seating and audiences will be transported to Hollywood’s legendary 1980s rock bar, The Bourbon Room. There’s strippers, there’s romance and there’s a tonne of great songs, it really is a fantastic show!”

After success on both Broadway and the UK’s West End, Rock Of Ages was released as a film in 2012, featuring Tom Cruise as the infamous and outrageous rock star Stacee Jaxx, alongside Hollywood stars such as Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The professional tour said its final farewell in the UK in 2023, but now returns to New Mills via NK Theatre Arts from 10th to 13th April 2024.

Tickets can be found on the New Mills Art Theatre website at www.newmillsarttheatre.co.uk
