Renovation fund has been relaunched at Partington Theatre

The historic Partington Theatre in Glossop has relaunched its renovation fund in honour of its late president Melvin Warhurst, who passed away just after Christmas.

Melvin started the original fund back in 2005 before the theatre became a charity.

In attendance at the theatre on Friday was MP Robert Largan and Kim Price, chair of the board of trustees for the theatre.

Kim said that the over 100 year old building needs major renovation and the critical work is making it watertight by repairing the roof and damp proofing the basement. She added: “Unless the building is made watertight the damp conditions in the basement will mean we have to dispose of more of our costumes and props because of mould damage.”
