Now Playing K Klass Rhythm Is A Mystery

Local Music Spotlight - it's coming back !

In January 2023, we launched our popular 'Local Music Spotlight' feature on Tameside Radio and across the local printed newspapers. I knew how important a feature like this was to support new and unsigned musicians and artists, but the response we've had has been nothing short of amazing. Now, almost 18 months on, we have featured over 60 local bands and artists, playing their music on every main daytime show for a full week, along with a live session and interview on my Monday night indie and new music show.

Due to its popularity, and to celebrate one year of the feature, we held our first 'Indie Rock n Roll - Local Music Spotlight' live event at Whittles at Tokyo live music venue in Oldham in January. The night was huge success, and I am pleased to announce we will be returning to the venue on Friday May 17th for our second night celebrating the feature. Playing live on the night at this event will be Ruff Trade, Stepford Wives, Ambiere, North Blood, 25th Hour, Not Ned, Cobain Jones, and Craig Lee and The Humblebees.

I will be hosting the night and doing a DJ at the end into the early hours of the morning, on what will be another special night for new music, the venue, and myself, as I was a resident DJ at the venue when it was the former Tokyo Project nightclub. At our last night in January, I openly declared on stage that there was nowhere in the country that night with a better line up of new and unsigned music, a statement I still believe to be true. I also believe this night will be exactly the same. We will once again be recording the full night, to be broadcast on Tameside Radio at a later date, and our reporters Laura Beth, Erin Parker, and Letitia Royle will be interviewing the musicians, along with people in the crowd, to also feature in the special show.

Our last Live night at Whittles at Tokyo Live Music venue was one I'll never forget, and I'm certain this one will be just as good. Doors on the night open at 6pm, with live acts on until around midnight, followed by a club night straight after.

Tickets for the full event are only £8 each and available on Eventbrite, or at www.tamesideradio.com. Come and join us for what will be an amazing night of live music, celebrating our hugely successful feature, and support some of the best new bands around. You'll also be able to meet some of the Tameside Radio team!

Hope to see you there!
