Saint Mary's Catholic Voluntary Academy students make the finals

Pupils from Saint Mary's Catholic Voluntary Academy in Glossop have made it to the finals of the Derbyshire County Athletics competition.

A team of eight children represented the Glossopdale area at the High Peak Athletics final, which was held at St Thomas More Catholic Voluntary Academy in Buxton.

The children took part in different track and field events, including relays, soft javelin, chest throws, triple jump and vertical jump. They worked really hard in all the events, and they were great representatives for the school. After all the events, the team came out overall winners.

Sarah Rudd, Head of School, said: "This is an amazing sporting achievement for the school and one that we haven't achieved before. The team will now be going to take part in the Derbyshire County athletics competition at Derby College, as representatives of the High Peak schools. A massive well done to our team, Riley, George, David, Jack, Frankie, Jainaba, Evie and Matilda."
