Vinyl LPs Hits High In UK
UK sales of vinyl LPs have hit their highest level since 1990 as the revival of the physical music market continues.
Sales rose by 11.7% to 5.9 million units, increasing for the 16th year in a row, according to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) trade group.
Taylor Swift's 1989 (Taylor's Version) was the best-selling LP, followed by the Rolling Stones' Hackney Diamonds.
Cassette sales also did well, topping 100,000 for a fourth consecutive year.
While more than four-fifths of recorded music is consumed via streaming, vinyl has made a huge comeback, with fans seeing it as more collectible and having better sound quality.

Adverts On Amazon Prime Video
Amazon is set to introduce adverts to its Prime Video streaming service from 5 February 2024.
Customers in the UK and Germany will see "limited" ads unless they pay £2.99 per month to remove them.
Previously, rivals such as Disney+ and Netflix introduced cheaper ad-supported memberships amid price rises.
Amazon said the move would "allow us to continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time".

Air Ambulance Charity Warns Of Drone Use
An air ambulance charity has warned of the problems drones can cause to its life-saving work.
As many people start to use drones received as Christmas gifts, the Midlands Air Ambulance (MAA) has warned they can pose a huge safety risk if flown near its aircraft.
The charity has urged people to take care and not to fly them near helicopters or close to emergencies that its crews are attending.
It said there had been several reported incidents in recent years when flight paths had crossed.

Driverless Cars in UK
Driverless cars could be on some UK roads by the end of 2026, the transport secretary has told the BBC.
Mark Harper also said he expected to see the owners of those vehicles being able to travel without having to watch where they're going by the end of that year.
Last month the government announced plans for new legislation to bring automated driving to UK roads.
But, critics argue if the tech is not ready it could cause serious accidents.

Making backups doesn't take very long, and can usually be set up to take place automatically. So a little planning in advance to make backups could save you a lot of stress should the worst happen.
A backup is a copy of your important data that's stored in a separate safe location, usually on the internet (known as cloud storage), or on removable media (such as USB stick, SD card, or external hard drive).
As a rule of thumb, you should back up anything that you value. That is, anything that would inconvenience you - for whatever reason - if you could no longer access it.
