Mark has spent over thirty years in local radio and was part of the original team who started Bury Sound FM (now Tower FM) and Oldham FM (now The Revolution).
He’s also co-managed in the 90’s a number of “festive” local radio stations too!
Mark has been part of Tameside Radio since the launch in 2007 and now co-hosts the weekend breakfast show with Dan Eyers.
We asked him to describe what it’s like working on the show. “Getting up at 5am is a breeze as I’ve always been an early bird. I’ve worked with Dan for over 8 years (it does feel a lot longer to be honest) and the best way to describe our show is like two blokes in a pub playing music and having a bit of banter... However Dan’s breakfast diet of Jaffa Cakes, crisps, pop and wine gums differs somewhat from my healthier option of fresh fruit and yogurt!
He does have a number of “issues” too, namely the fact he talks non-stop about Man Utd (yawn), he never drinks tea, sometimes trying to shut him up can be a challenge - I usually manage this by randomly starting the next song and turning his microphone off - trust me, it works.”
Mark goes on to say... “broadcasting to Tameside is a fantastic privilege as there are some amazing people living and working here across the borough. Over the years we’ve met hundreds of great people and heard some wonderful stories here at the heart of our local community.
As radio generally is going through some significant changes across the dial, Tameside Radio is going from strength to strength. It’s committed to not only making great entertainment but also be focused on real people, supporting local businesses and providing a platform for the local community!”
