Ashton-under-Lyne MP Angela Rayner emphasises the importance for us all to take time to reflect on the great sacrifices by members of the Armed Forces and thank veterans for everything they did for our country in the Second World War.
In a video message you can watch at the top of the page, the Labour Party's newly elected deputy leader says the coronavirus lockdown shouldn't stop us celebrating the key 75th anniversary today (Friday) and we should still safely find a way to show our appreciation to those wonderful men and women.
She references Captain Tom Moore as a shining example that great things can be achieved - even by staying at home.
The MP also reflects on an event she held on Armed Forces Day last year at Ashton Market for local veterans and said it was wonderful to hear them reminisce about their time in service.
