A McDonald's restaurant in Ashton was forced to close temporarily on Wednesday afternoon (25 August).

Staff had to turn customers away at around 1pm at the Ashton Moss restaurant, next to Ashton Leisure Park.

The fast food giant has since confirmed that this was because of 'an IT system enhancement' and the closure was only for a 'short period of time'.

A spokesperson for McDonald's told the Reporter: "Our Ashton Moss restaurant was closed for short period of time on Wednesday, due to an IT system enhancement.

"The team worked as quickly as they could to rectify the situation and the restaurant reopened again shortly after.

"The restaurant continues to operate as usual today and we apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused."
