Who's appeared in court recently?

From assaulting a woman on Christmas Eve to being fined £660 for flytipping, here's our latest round-up of Tameside Magistrates' Court cases.

 

Assaulting a woman on Christmas Eve has landed an Ashton man a suspended jail sentence.

Darren Saxon, 50, of Portland House, pleaded guilty to the offence which happened last year when he appeared at Tameside magistrates.

He was given a ten weeks jail sentence, suspended for 12 months as a result. 

Magistrates heard the defendant was already the subject of community order when the offence happened. He was ordered to carry out 200 hours unpaid work and pay £50 compensation.

Magistrates also handed him a £620 bill for court costs and a victim surcharge of £122.

 

An Oldham man has been fined £660 for flytipping.

Simona Danielova, 32, of Villa Road, was charged with depositing a fridge freezer and kitchen worktop in the rear alleyway of Villa Road.

At Tameside Magistrates’ Court the case was proved in his absence.

He was also ordered to pay £275 costs and a £66 victim surcharge.

In a separate case magistrates also fined Danala Lupu, 29, of Honeywell Lane, Oldham, the same sum, also for flytipping.

The court heard a sofa had been dumped in an alleyway behind Honeywell Lane.

Again the defendant was not present in the court but the case was proved in their absence and they were also ordered to pay £262 costs and a £66 victim surcharge.

They were among a series of individuals fined for similar offences across Oldham and Failsworth, where domestic waste in black bin bags had been left in alleyways.

Fines of £220 were handed out by the court to the offenders - none of whom appeared before the bench - but who must also pay additional associated court costs of more than £300.

 

Graham Duffy, 57, of Kimberley Street, Oldham, has been fined £40 by Tameside magistrates and ordered to pay £60 court costs for failing to comply with court orders.

He admitted being in breach of the orders.

Others dealt with by magistrates for breaching court orders included:

• Daniel Jones, of Rosary Close, Oldham, fined £60 plus ordered to pay £60 court costs for being in breach of court orders. The 25-year-old admitted the offence.

• William Fogg, 27, of Hansby Close, Royton, who was ordered to pay £60 costs for failing to comply with court orders. He too admitted being in breach of the court orders.

• Kyle Royle, 26, of Albert Street, Royton, admitted being in breach of court orders and was ordered to pay £60 costs by Tameside magistrates.

• Samuel Barnes, 27, of Mottram Road, Stalybridge,  fined £50 by the court and ordered to pay £50 costs for breaching previous court orders, which he admitted.

• Terry Cronin, 35, of Booth Street, Ashton, admitted breaching previous court orders and was fined £40.

 

Tameside magistrates have sentenced Matthew Leeds to a suspended jail term for a double assault.

The court handed him an eight weeks prison sentence, suspended for one year for the offence, which had happened in Ashton on February 7.

The 43-year-old, of Audenshaw Road, Audenshaw, pleaded guilty to assaulting two people on the date plus causing £300 damage to a television set on the same date.

Magistrates issued him with a restraining order, plus ordered him to pay a total of £300 compensation, plus £85 court costs and a £122 victim surcharge.

 

A driver disqualified from holding a driving licence was spotted behind the wheel of a van, magistrates heard.

William O’Reilly, 30, of Prince Edward Avenue, Denton, admitted the charge which had happened on Patterson Street in the town on February 2.

He also admitted having no insurance cover and driving other than in accordance with his licence.

At Tameside magistrates he was banned  from the road for a further nine months plus fined a total of £550.

He must also pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £32.

 

An Oldham man has been given a suspended jail sentence for assault.

Tameside magistrates handed Md Al Amin Bhuyan a 20 weeks custodial sentence, suspended for two years, after hearing the assault had been sustained and he had brandished a weapon.

The court also ordered the 22-year-old, of Redruth Street, Oldham, to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the assault, which had happened on December 26 last year, and was ordered to pay £400 court costs and a £122 victim surcharge.

 

Paul Wilde, of Lismore Road, Dukinfield, has been banned from the road for three years by Tameside magistrates.

He was found to be over the legal drug drive limit on January 9 as he drove along Clarke Way, Hyde.

The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined £120, plus ordered to pay £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £85.

 

A 21-year-old woman has been fined £200 by magistrates for assault.

Erin Wilson, of Parkfield Avenue, Oldham, pleaded guilty to the offence which had happened in August last year in the town.

Appearing before Tameside Magistrates’ Court, she was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

 

John Lanigan denied causing £300 damage to a taxi when he appeared before Tameside magistates.

The court heard the charge related to an incident in Hyde on November 21 last year, but found the defendant guilty of the offence.

The 33-year-old was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £300 compensation, £200 court costs and a £21 victim surcharge.

His address was given as c/o Newton Hall Road, Hyde.

 

Michael Connole pleaded guilty to three separate charges of assaulting three police constables when he appeared before Tameside magistrates.

The 25-year-old, of Mottram, was ordered to carry out 80 hours unpaid work for the offences, which all happened on December 1 last year in Stalybridge.

He was ordered to pay a total of £150 compensation, plus £85 court costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

 

Aiden Giles, 31, of Denton Lane, Chadderton, has been ordered to carry out 40 hours unpaid work by Tameside magistrates.

He pleaded guilty to charges of driving while disqualified and having no insurance cover.

The charges related to an incident last November.

Magistrates banned him from the road for a further 12 months plus ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

 

Alan Walker, 50, of Richmond Avenue, Chadderton, has been fined £133 for a charge of assault.

He pleaded guilty to the offence which had happened in Oldham last August.

Appearing at Tameside Magistrates’ Court, he was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

 

Daniel Clarke, 44, of Victoria Street, Lees, has been fined £40 for being in possession of a quantity of cannabis in Oldham.

He denied the offence but was found guilty by Tameside magistrates, who also ordered him to pay £100 court costs and a victim surcharge of £85 for the offence, discovered on December 20.
