What roadworks are happening in Tameside?

It's always busy on the roads and as a motorist it's useful to know where there might be delays, in order to plan ahead. With that in mind, we've rounded up the current planned roadworks taking place across the borough.

Ashton

Darnton Road will be closed in a southeast bound direction, from the junction of Mossley Road to the junction of Arundel Street, from Monday 17 February for seven days. This is to allow new electric mains to be laid. Motorists are asked to follow the diversion which will be in place.

Denton

There will be no left turn from Edward Street on to Hyde Road from Monday 17 February for two weeks while a gas connection is undertaken at the junction. Drivers must follow the diversion on site.

Hyde

Mill Lane will be closed at the junction of Manchester Road between 8.30am and 3.30pm on 23 February, while a defective manhole frame and cover is replaced. Drivers must follow the diversion on site.

Gorton

Major work is currently ongoing to widen Hyde Road, which is expected to last until the end of the calendar year. Two new lanes - one in each direction - will be created to make the road into a dual carriageway in both directions for its entire length. The existing disused Fallowfield Loop railway bridge, which is used nowadays by cyclists and walkers, will also be demolished and replaced by a new longer spanning bridge. Read more here

Mossley

Mill Street will be closed from Monday 17 February for three days while Amey install sewer equipment on Waggon Road, where there will also be two-way signals. Motorists are asked to follow the diversion on site.

Stalybridge

Mottram Old Road will be closed between Stalyhill Drive and Moorland Fold for three hours on Sunday 16 February, sometime between 9.30am and 3.30pm, while a defective manhole frame and cover is replaced in the carriageway.

Currently, Bayley Street is also subject to a road closure until approximately 3 April. More information can be seen in the public notice below.

If you know of any others in the area, please get in touch and we can update our list.
