'We are desperately struggling' - Tameside group's plea for support

A voluntary community group which helps to feed the homeless and hungry of Tameside and beyond is again urgently appealing for help.

Hyde-based Sandwich Angels is in need of a range of items to put together food parcels to help support those who need them.

A spokesperson for the group said: "We are desperately struggling and sorry to disappoint many but we can't give out what we don't have enough of. We are still operating daily on the basis of the minute a food donation comes in, it's gone to emergency referral cases only as priority.

"We are not a charity, not government funded and rely totally on the public's help with donations. We are all dedicated unpaid volunteers. Even when we fall low, we won't stop and now we just hope and pray for help."

The items the group needs donations of are:

  • Children's cereals
  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Children's yoghurts
  • Butter or margarine
  • Cheese slices
  • Baked beans
