WATCH: All Saints' fitting farewell to headteacher

All Saints Catholic College have given their much-loved headteacher a unique send-off by serenading her in an online video!

Linda Emmett has left All Saints after completely turning around the school’s fortunes. It was placed in special measures shortly after her arrival but under Mrs Emmett’s leadership, All Saints is now rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, with GCSE results improving year-on-year.

Mrs Emmett will be sorely missed by all at All Saints, but staff and students showed their appreciation with their own version of Sam Cooke’s 1960 song, ‘Wonderful World’, titled ‘Our Wonderful School’.

Learning Resources Manager, Juile Carss, remixed the words and the video has been a hit on social media, with parents, carers and others connected with the school leaving messages of thanks and support for Mrs Emmett.

Gus Diamond has taken over as Head of School for the last term and he introduced the video by saying: “Linda, as a fond farewell from all of us here at All Saints and to say a massive thank you for everything you’ve done to create our wonderful community, we’d like to sing a song for you, just to celebrate everything that you mean to us. Thank you!”

The video ends with students saying their ‘goodbyes and good luck’.

Mr Diamond also told the Tameside Reporter: “Everyone loved doing the video. We’ve spent the week saying goodbye to Mrs Emmett as best we can, but we will give her a proper send off!”

Staff member Andrea Coleman has also put together a short ‘Mrs Emmett’ through the ages video, showing her highlights at All Saints alongside some personal pictures.
