Police are warning residents in the Carrbrook and Millbrook areas of Tameside in particular to be vigilant, amid a spate of attempted thefts recently.
Greater Manchester Police's Tameside North and East team say criminals are seeking out properties and vehicles which have been left unlocked to take advantage of.
They added: "Be reassured your local beat officers are dealing with the threat, and additional passing attention will be provided to the areas most affected.
"Remember to check your vehicle is locked and valuables removed, and be certain your home doors and windows are secure."
Officers have also released the above image of two offenders caught on CCTV.
