Warm welcome for Willow Wood in Mossley

Willow Wood Hospice has opened a new hospice shop in Mossley.

The shop, on Arundel Street, will sell the usual mix of high quality pre-loved items, including clothing, shoes, toys and more and will be open between 9.30am to 4pm every day except Sunday.

Sharon Hodgkiess, retail operations manager said: “It’s our first ever shop in Mossley and we’re really looking forward to welcoming customers. We’ve already had lots of positive comments from passers-by as we’ve been refurbishing the interior and displaying stock and we can’t wait to get to know our community here.”

The shop has been refitted to a high specification reflecting the quality of the goods on sale.

Sharon added: “Our supporters really are wonderful; they ensure we can continue to care for the people of Tameside and Glossop. It’s a staggering fact that eight out of every ten of our patients are cared for by donations; selling donated goods to the value of £25 funds a 30 minute therapy session, while raising £120 covers a full hour of medical care.

“However, since our shops and warehouse were closed due to lockdowns for much of last year we currently are a little short of summer clothing. We would be very grateful for donations and supporters can book a convenient time to drop these off at our warehouse by going to our website, www.willowwood.info.”

The shop is initially being managed by Julie Wilson, the new relief manager, while Denise Royle will be covering on certain days. Denise is currently the manager at the Ashton shop and prior to that at Stalybridge. Supporting them, as in all the shops, is a team of volunteers.
