Police are investigating after a man and a woman were both stabbed in 'a fight' on a street in Dukinfield.

A local resident told the Reporter there was a large emergency service presence, with a number of police vehicles, ambulances and an air ambulance seen in the area.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said the force was called to Astley Street just after 4pm to reports of a fight involving knives.

They said two people - a man and a woman - had been stabbed and were taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

No arrests have been made, they added.

A cordon was in place for several hours on nearby Brunswick Street.

Anyone with information is asked to contact GMP by calling 101 or reporting it via the LiveChat function at www.gmp.police.uk, quoting incident 1863 of 11/01/22. Alternatively, details can be passed through independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
