Trust receives Bronze award for armed forces commitment

A Bronze award has been given to Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust for its commitment to men and women who have served in the armed forces.

The Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme recognised the Trust for its outstanding care for members of the armed forces community and for upholding the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Trust, operating from Tameside Hospital and a number of community locations across Tameside and Glossop, was among only four Trusts in the country to given the bronze award.

The Covenant makes sure personnel and veterans have access to adequate healthcare and social services, affording them and their family the best quality of life possible.

The Covenant and The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme works across multiple services, including health care, education, housing and finance, to make sure that members of the armed forces community are not disadvantaged or left behind in society because of their service.

Dr Fiona New, of the Trust, said: “I’m delighted that we have been recognised with the Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award.

“We are so committed to providing the best possible care for all our patients and this work has really helped us to focus on the armed forces community in Tameside and making sure that they can access our services in the right way and also get the most out of their time with us.”
