Tributes to dad-of-six who died after horror crash in Hyde

Heartfelt tributes have been paid by the children of a father-of-six from Hattersley, who died in a horrific crash in Hyde earlier this month.

Lee Hilton (pictured) was involved in the collision on Matley Lane on the morning of Monday, May 4, which prompted a huge emergency response.

The 47-year-old, who was a big fan of Manchester City Football Club, was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries but sadly passed away 10 days later.

One of Lee’s sons Ben, who is 24, posted a touching tribute online which read: “I just want to say thank you to everyone who has sent messages of support to myself and family and to everyone who was a positive part of his life.

“Taken way too soon but one thing for sure is that he lived life at full speed, always busy, always helpful, always doing something and making people smile and laugh, you definitely had your ups and downs but tried to make the best of every situation you could.

“Mine and Dillon’s thoughts are with his three youngest children, our little half brother and sisters who will be affected the most, losing the man who has looked after them so well and they have looked up to.

“I remember all of the good times, watching City, out on the motorbikes and working alongside myself for the last three years. You will be greatly missed by so many people, rest in peace Dad. Love you always x

“Take it easy when out on the roads as you never know what can happen. Stay safe everyone.”

One of Lee’s children, eight-year-old Tillie-Rose (pictured below), was in the car with him when the head-on collision happened.

She was also taken to hospital with head and chest injuries.

Her mum Gem Kidd said she’s doing really well in her recovery and has been very brave and lucky.

In a joint message, Tillie-Rose and her siblings Jack, 13, and Lois, 11, have paid tribute to their dad.

They wrote: “Dad. If I could write a story, it would be the greatest ever told - of a kind and loving dad who had a heart of gold. I would write a million pages but still be unable to say just how much I love and miss you every single day.

“I will remember all that he taught me. I’m hurt but don’t be sad because you will send me down the answers and you’ll always be my bravest, strongest loving daddy. Love Tillie-Rose, Jack and Lois.”

They have also left this lovely message at Lee’s house in Hattersley, which used to be home before they moved to Denton.

A number of other tributes - including flowers, candles, cards, lanterns and a Manchester City shirt - have been left at the scene of the crash on Matley Lane.

Police say Lee’s family are being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time.

They add that enquiries into the crash are still continuing.
