Transport through the ages at Ashton Market Gallery

During the lockdowns last year, Tameside Local Studies and Archive staff were working from home answering enquiries and also working on various projects - one of which is now on display in the Ashton Market Gallery.

The Tameside Transport Exhibition looks at five areas of local transport from the past which includes buses, canals, trains, trams and trolley buses.

Images of each have been taken from the Tameside image archive https://public.tameside.gov.uk/imagearchive/ and are displayed with some historical detail until the end of August. This will also be published on the local studies’ website in due course.

You can view the exhibition in Ashton Market Hall from the Fletcher Square entrance.

Tameside Local Studies and Archives are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 5pm and Saturday from 10am to 1pm.

To book an appointment call 1061 342 4242 or email archive@tameside.gov.uk plus check the website for events and other items available online https://www.tameside.gov.uk/archives
