Touching tributes paid to young woman killed in Ashton crash

The family of a young woman tragically killed after a serious collision in Ashton have paid a heartfelt tribute to a loving daughter, sister and granddaughter who "added sunshine to many lives".

She has been named as 27-year-old Antonia St Louis (pictured).

The crash happened in the early hours of Saturday morning (28 November), when emergency services rushed to Manchester Road, near to Snipe Retail Park, after reports that a red Volkswagen Golf had collided with two pedestrians.

Antonia, one of the pedestrians, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement released by Greater Manchester Police, Antonia’s family said: "Antonia was a loving daughter, sister and granddaughter. She was a loyal friend and loved by many.

"She had a huge personality and lust for life and added sunshine to many lives. She will be missed and in our hearts forever - this world will be a little darker without her."

A number of flowers, candles, balloons, photos and messages have also been left at the scene of the crash by the public and those who were lucky enough to know Antonia. See some of them below:

A 28-year-old man - the other pedestrian involved in the collision - remains in a critical condition in hospital.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death whilst driving without due care and attention. He has since been released under investigation.

Police say enquiries are ongoing.
