Now Playing Deacon Blue Fergus Sings The Blues

They're on the ball

Two of the three Stalybridge Celtic Foundation adult PAN-disability teams took part in a tournament held at Silverlands, home of Buxton FC, earlier in June.

With some players not being available two teams made the short trip over to the High Peak District for a day of football in the sun.

The Stalybridge Celtic Blues and Whites were merged for the day along with Stalybridge Celtic AFG.

A disappointing day for the Blues, who came last in the table, put never gave up and kept their spirits up all day.

Whilst the Blues didn’t have the best of days on the pitch, it was a great day for Stalybridge Celtic AFG, who finished in the top four and won a place in the Semi-final where they beat Cannock United FC on penalties, before narrowly losing 2-1 to eventual winners Sheffield FC in the Final.

The Cheshire East Ability Counts League has now finished for the season, so the squad of thirty seven players are now focusing on the Ability Counts Cup, which will be held at the Cheshire FA HQ in Northwich on Saturday 20th July 2019, where teams from the East and West Ability Counts League compete for the Trophy in a cup competition.

Weekly training sessions continue throughout the summer each Thursday evening at Ashton 6th Form College, 6pm to 7pm, all welcome.
