There's a monster Easter on offer in Tameside

If you're wondering if there's anything for your children to do during the Easter holidays, then 'beast' your eyes on what's on offer.

Tameside Cultural Services have come up with some great family-friendly activities and all with a mega-beast theme to please anyone who loves dragons and dinosaurs.

Their programme includes everything from crafting and creating to a dinosaur egg hunt in parks and outdoor spaces.

On Tuesday, April 13 (11am to 3pm), families will be able to join the self-led Dino-egg Trail around Cheetham’s Park, Stalybridge, looking for all the hidden pebble dinosaurs and their eggs. You can even bring your own painted pebble to add to the trail.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it because the same fun continues in Hyde Park on Thursday, April 15.

Museums and Galleries have added to the programme by putting together some great crafts and activities, including making a pop-up hatching dinosaur linked to the ‘Nature’s Wonders’ exhibition and the fossils the museum holds.

They will be showing you how to create dragon stick puppets and give you all the information you need to make your own moving beastly Thaumatrope.

To continue the theme, book your family for the funny, charming and heart-warming theatre show ‘When Another Dragon Roars’ between Sunday, April 11, and Sunday, April 18.

This digital stream is suitable for children aged five and over and their grown-ups.

Cllr Leanne Feeley, Tameside Council’s executive member with responsibility for culture, said: “Cultural Services have certainly ticked all the boxes with this varied and entertaining programme of activities the whole family can take part in. People can get into the fresh air to share some enjoyment and exercise and there are lots of indoor crafts and fabulous theatre performances to enjoy.”
