Tameside parks to reopen from Saturday

Tameside Council is urging parents and their children to “be responsible” as playgrounds reopen from Saturday (4 July).

Playground and multi-use game areas will all reopen but the council’s advice to to go home if they’re too crowded.

They say: “Everyone planning to use playgrounds and games areas are advised to practice social distancing and good hand hygiene, bringing sanitiser gel with them to use before and after touching equipment.”

Those who - or live with anyone who - have Coronavirus symptoms must stay at home.

Tameside Council Executive Member for Operations and Neighbourhoods Cllr Allison Gwynne said: “We know our playgrounds and multi-use games areas are highly valued by local families and have been sorely missed during lockdown so we are pleased to plan for a safe reopening. However, this very much depends on visitors acting responsibly and practicing social distancing and following public health advice.

“Please be cautious and help protect yourselves, your loved ones and others by avoiding any areas that are crowded. We’ll be monitoring the situation and if we feel people aren’t acting responsibly then we won’t hesitate in reviewing the reopening.”
