Tameside Hospital is a regional winner at NHS Parliamentary Awards

Staff at Tameside Hospital are celebrating after winning a prestigious regional award.

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust has been announced as the North West regional winner in The Future NHS Award category of the NHS Parliamentary Awards 2020.

Two local MPs - Denton and Reddish MP Andrew Gwynne and Stalybridge and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds - put forward the Trust's District Nursing Dependency Tool for The Future NHS Award.

The NHS Parliamentary Awards provides an opportunity for health and care organisations to engage with their local MPs, tell them about the work they do, and build or strengthen ongoing relationships.

The District Nursing Team, and the Trust’s Corporate Information Team, wanted to ensure their service was fit for the future with the landscape of healthcare delivery ever changing, moving away from hospital-based care to care in the community and closer to home.

The team developed data dashboards to support clinical staff with improved visibility of caseloads to facilitate safer and more effective management of patients in the community.

The Future NHS Award recognises a person or team that has successfully trialled and embedded change to make better use of data and digital technology, provide more convenient access to services and information for patients and improve support for staff.

Karen James OBE, Chief Executive of Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: "I'm so pleased that the hard work we have made in using data to improve our services has been recognised by our local MPs and the NHS North West Regional Team.

"We have a lot to shout about and be proud of at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT. I wish the District Nursing Team and Corporate Information Team the best of luck and look forward to finding out the outcome of the national judging."

Now, as a regional winner, the Trust has been shortlisted for the national award in the same category - which will be announced at a ceremony in July 2021 at the Palace of Westminster.
