Tameside Community Recovery Fund event in Dukinfield

Groups in Dukinfield, Stalybridge and Mossley all stand to benefit when Tameside East neighbourhood hosts the next Tameside Community Recovery Fund event.

It takes place at the Together Centre, Birch Lane, Dukinfield, on Saturday 11 June (2pm to 5pm), and will be attended by the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Mike Glover, and the Mayoress, Mrs Anne Gordon.

The East meeting is the third in a series of four events. The previous two, dealing with the North (Ashton) and South (Hyde and Longdendale) neighbourhoods, distributed more than £30,000 among a large number of community groups.

Applications have to come under one of four headings: Clean and Attractive, Health and Wellbeing; Safer Neighbourhoods and Staying Connected, and have included projects like IT workshops, gardens, greenspace and luncheon clubs.

The events, which are organised in partnership with Action Together, are open to everyone and its members of the public who decide which groups should receive grants.

Each group applying for a grant gets five minutes to make a presentation, and another five to take questions. Then a vote is taken.

The final community fund meeting, which deals with South neighbourhood (Hyde and Longdendale): takes place at The Meeting Point, St Barnabas’s Church, Hattersley Road East, Hattersley, (noon to 4pm) on Saturday, June 18.
