Stalyhill pupil debuts on the big screen

A young boy from Stalybridge is set to star on the big screen in a film by the famed “Full Monty” director.

Finlay Willis, six, is appearing in Military Wives, a film by Peter Cattaneo which will be released in cinemas on March 6.

The Stalyhill Infant School pupil shares the screen with famous names such as Sharon Horgan & Kristin Scott Thomas.

Finlay said his favourite part of the film was getting to play in a paddling pool in the middle of London.

It isn’t the first big break for the young talent, as he recently got down to the final two to play Jake Windass in Coronation Street, alongside short films and still work

Finlay, who is a member of Strawberry Angels Modelling and Casting based in Ashton, took his first modelling job aged four and already has plenty of experience in the ‘business.’

Mum Kate said: “When we are learning a script I’ll have to read the lines, and he’ll know his and the other lines off by heart almost immediately, it’s definitely a talent not many children have.

“He’s been showing this ability from the age of 5. And it’s only when other people commented how amazing he was we even realised how talented he was”

The red carpet premiere of comedy drama, Military Wives, will be screened live at Showcase Cinema Manchester on Monday, February 24, in advance of its official opening date in a few weeks time.

Military Wives, starring BAFTA winner Kristen Scott Thomas and BAFTA nominee Sharon Horgan, tells the inspirational true story of the Military Wives Choirs, a charity bringing women closer through singing.
