Stalybridge youngster raises fantastic amount for charity

Nine-year-old Eve Warburton has raised an astonishing £1,250 for the Alzheimer's Society.

As reported last week, Eve (pictured) from Stalybridge, set herself the challenge of running 100km in honour of her granddad Tommy Fitzgerald who was living with dementia.

Tommy sadly passed away last month, but Eve has kept on running and has now gone past the 100km mark to clock up 101.44km.

The Stalyhill Juniors pupil, who plays for Manchester United Football Club Under 10 Girls, said she took up the challenge for her grandad as a special tribute to him and because she missed sharing all her football achievements with him.

Eve is also a Stalybridge Celtic junior player.

The youngster had set a target of raising £150 but this was surpassed some time ago.

However, there is still time to give to the cause and if you would like to do so you can go to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/evewarburton
