Stalybridge girl's family say heartfelt thanks for birthday wishes

The family of Molly May Rainbird say they are totally overwhelmed by the response to their appeal to make her birthday extra special this year.

Tameside Reporter readers and Tameside Radio listeners joined the appeal, sending Molly literally hundreds of cards on Tuesday, plus presents, while one Ashton business even delivered a personal birthday cake.

Molly, from Stalybridge, was diagnosed with a life-limiting form of Batten’s Disease in 2019.

To make her 13th birthday extra special, her family appealed for everyone to send her a birthday card.

Surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of Disney and Manchester United cards, some personally created, Molly’s mum Adele said: “We are completely overwhelmed with the amount of love and support we have received!

“Thank you all so very much for all the beautiful birthday messages for Molly, we have received so many beautiful cards and gifts.”

While big-hearted Ashton-based businessman Roman Miah, of Sweet Hideout in Ashton, read the appeal in the Reporter and created a special birthday cake for Molly, delivering it personally to her door.
