Stagecoach raise £30k for Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

Stagecoach Manchester have announced that they’ve raised over £30,000 for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity (RMCHC).

They’ve been supporting the charities work for the past two years and have raised a fantastic £31,139. The Ashton depot alone raised £3,418.07.

After announcing RMCHC as its charity partner in 2017, Stagecoach Manchester, its employees and generous customers have raised money through a series of fundraising initiatives. These initiatives include extreme events like skydiving to more serene activities like hosting on-board libraries for patients at the hospital. In addition, a Santa’s Grotto bus visited the hospital in December 2018, while members of the Stagecoach team have been out walking, running and cycling across the two years.

Stagecoach Manchester managing director, Elisabeth Tasker, said: “Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity is an absolutely fantastic organisation which does invaluable work in our region, providing such important support and health services to children and young people.

“Our whole organisation has thrown its weight behind RMCHC and it's been one of our most successful partnerships to date. We’d like to thank each and every one of our employees who have gone above and beyond to fundraise, as well as the ongoing generosity to all those who have given, and in doing so helping us to generate this substantial total which will help to make a difference to local people’s lives.”

Lucy Tunn, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity’s Corporate Fundraising Executive said: “Stagecoach has gone above and beyond in its fundraising – swapping busses for planes when a team did a skydive, running marathons, hiking mountains and taking on tough mudders.

“Some of my personal favourites have been the events where staff came to our hospitals and met some of the children – for example when the team turned one of the fleet into the Gruffalo’s house to read stories to the patients and when a Santa’s Grotto bus came and Santa and his elves handed out gifts. This meant they were able to see for themselves how much of a massive difference their fundraising and support makes to our young patients.

“Over the last two years Stagecoach has donated an incredible £31,139.30! It’s such a fantastic amount that enables us to make real differences to the treatment, research and care undertaken at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

“I’d like to emphasise to Stagecoach just how grateful we are for its incredible support. From me, all the team at the Charity, but most importantly, from poorly children across Manchester and the North West…THANK YOU.” Anyone who would like to find out more about the Charity can visit www.rmchcharity.org.uk or follow us on social media.
