Scarecrow superheroes descend on Hollingworth

The Friends of Hollingworth have been holding their first ever scarecrow competition and the winners can now be revealed.

It finishes today (Friday) and a map is available of where the straw men and straw women are on the Friends’ Facebook page.

Follow the trail and you should see them all in around two hours.

The theme is ‘Heroes’ and the group say they are delighted with the number of people (scarecrows) which have participated.

The Friends group say it was so successful that it will now become an annual event.

They also want to say thank you to local councillor and Civic Mayor of Tameside, Janet Cooper (pictured below left), for judging.

She chose the following three winners who received prizes.

First prize went to Glossop Mountain Rescue Team by Robyn, Jasper and India Spriggs.

Second prize went to Midwife by Jackie Sidebottom.

Third prize went to Hollingworth Bakery by Alice and Charlotte Ivens.
