Rev David Warner column: Love and marriage as more weddings take place

In his latest column for us, the Vicar of Mossley, Reverend David Warner, says it's lovely to have more weddings in the diary for this month than usual.

September this year has more weddings than usual in the diary - that’s a lovely thing after so long without them, when churches were closed.

Some of the services that we had booked have pushed back to next year, while others have delayed until now - and some of the services I’m taking are bookings that came in after lockdown, from people whose other plans were cancelled.

We’re delighted to be there for people, and to be part of these very special days for the couple and their family, even in such unusual circumstances.

At the moment, baptisms, weddings and funerals take place with only 30 guests - far fewer than the 400 plus St George’s can seat and the 300 plus who can come to St John’s.

Public worship will go on, even under the new ‘rule of 6’ as these are regulated activities with lots of precautions in place - we’re working hard to ensure everyone who comes to church is kept as safe as possible.

So, who are your 6? Family and friends, neighbours?

Whoever they are, we need to work hard to keep everyone safe as the virus is still active in our communities.

So who are your 6?

Choose carefully, and stay safe.
