Reddish Morrisons make it easy to donate to local food banks as you shop

Community Champion at Morrisons in Reddish, Michelle Stokes, is encouraging shoppers to grab a ‘pick-up pack’ in store.

The pick-up packs cost between 80p and £5.00, shoppers can fill them full of essential items as they pass through the supermarket, before putting them in a donation box for local food banks.

Donations go toward The Wellspring, Reddish foodbank and Street Treats. Each of these charities focuses on providing food for struggling families or for the homeless.

Reddish Morrisons also did school uniform and stationary pick-up packs over the summer holidays.

Michelle added: “I was shocked by the generous support of shoppers for the school uniform packs. But there’s still a lot of people in need and they’ve been made even more vulnerable after the pandemic.

“In my role I really back the community and so I just want to raise awareness of these packs and encourage people to pick one up. They’re so easy to do, you get the receipt up front and that’s scanned through when you checkout.”

The packs can be found beside the entrance and exit to the store.
