Reading was the story of Hattersley school's return to the classroom

Enjoying books was at the forefront as Discovery Academy in Hattersley welcomed all of its pupils back to the classroom.

We paid a visit to the Porlock Avenue primary school - which is part of the Victorious Academies Trust - on Friday (12 March) when pupils and staff were marking World Book Day 2021.

Beverley Oldham, Principal at Discovery Academy, told us: "We've decided to have a whole reading week whilst the children settle back into school. Our theme today (Friday) is around vocabulary because it's a real key focus for us as a school to enhance the vocabulary of our children.

"We've decided to ask the children to dress up as an adjective - from either their favourite book or from something they've read - and show us that in whichever way they choose."

Below is a photo album of more images from the school's World Book Day, and you can watch a video at the top of the page to hear more from the principal about how children have been enjoying reading at Discovery Academy.
