Parents of children due to start primary school in Tameside in September 2020 are being reminded that the deadline to apply for a school place is Wednesday 15 January.
Residents of Tameside should apply using the online application form, which is available on the School Admissions pages at www.tameside.gov.uk/admissions.
People who don't have internet access are advised to visit any of Tameside's libraries, where computers with internet free of charge for up to an hour a day can be used.
Anyone who encounters any problems filling in the application can contact the Admissions team by calling 0161 342 3226/5131 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are applying for a voluntary aided school, even if it isn't your first preference, you may need to submit extra information - for example, a baptismal certificate, proof of address or evidence of church attendance. This cannot be done using the online system and you should contact the school in question to confirm what you need to do.
The criteria by which places are offered and important information on the allocation process is also available at www.tameside.gov.uk/admissions. People are advised to read all of the information on the 'Starting Out' pages before completing the online form.
Any applications submitted after the closing date of Wednesday 15 January will be treated as 'late' and won't be processed until after those who submitted on time.
The council say approximately 90 per cent of parents who applied on time in 2019 were allocated a place at their first preference school.
