Greater Manchester Police say they will be carrying out more speed reduction initiatives in the Audenshaw and Droylsden areas following complaints about speeding.
Droylsden and Audenshaw Neighbourhood Police Team held a live Q&A Web Chat on Monday where one of the questions was about speeders racing along Stamford Road in Audenshaw.
Greenside Lane, Edge Lane and Sunnyside were also identified as ‘nightmare’ areas being used as ‘race tracks’.
The neighbourhood team said officers had conducted a speed monitoring Data Capture exercise last month on Stamford Road, observing 125 vehicles, with 14 of those recorded travelling at more than 35mph. The highest recorded vehicle speed was 55mph.
Further speed reduction initiatives in the area are now being considered, say the team.
Lumb Lane and Rycroft Hall were also mentioned as areas where motorcycle nuisance has become an issue, particularly on the playing field and towpath.
Police say they will add the area to their patrol plans. Residents were also urged to report problems by calling police on 101.
