Pet lovers invited to family fun day

Families and animal lovers are being invited to an action-packed fun day in Audenshaw.

Hosted by the UK’s leading veterinary charity PDSA, the fun day will take place at Fairfield Golf and Sailing Club on Kings Road on Sunday, October 27, from 11am to 8pm.

There will be plenty for the whole family to enjoy, with highlights including a tombola, raffle, free Pet Health MOTs and entertaining activities for children.

The Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Leigh Drennan, is also set to make an appearance at the event.

Attendees are being encouraging to bring a bag of pre-loved items to help PDSA’s Ashton-Under-Lyne shop raise funds for the charity's vital work.

Shop Manager Elaine Gillespie said: "We’re holding this open day as it will give people the chance to learn more about the charity, which has been saving the lives of pets in and around Manchester for nearly 95 years.

“If you’re de-cluttering your home, why not donate your unwanted items to us? We’re appealing for all types of donations, clothing, homeware, DVDs and books. And every penny we raise will help local sick and injured pets."

The PDSA shop, on Warrington Street in Ashton, raises funds to provide veterinary care to the pets of people in need.

Across the country, PDSA's dedicated veterinary teams carry out 2.7 million treatments on 470,000 pets every year. For more information, visit pdsa.org.uk.
